Description

Mega Rester Industrial Water Hammer Arrester protects large water installations against water hammer.

High capacity water hammer arrester for industrial / institutional applications, such as commercial laundry machines, pumping systems, concrete plants and other large piping applications.

Designed to protect multi-fixture branch lines from water hammer in industrial plumbing systems.

A permanent cushion of air that absorbs water hammer caused by quick closing faucets and valves in industrial applications.

Guaranteed to stop water hammer for the lifetime of the plumbing system.

Install into new rough-in piping or retrofit into industrial plumbing systems.

  • Made with 4″ copper tube.
  • Available in a variety of lenghts and connection options to fit your application.
  • Mega Resters are available from 100 to 400 cubic inches.
  • Installed in any metal pipe (copper, steel, plastic etc)
  • No maintenance is required
  • Contains no lead, so it’s suitable for potable water systems.
  • With a pressure manometer and air filling valve
  • Installs at any angle

Upon request, MEGA RESTER is available in stainless steel for food process systems or for any other application requires stainless steel.

More Technical Infos

What is Water Hammer?

Water hammer occurs when water flowing through a pipeline is stopped abruptly, generating an intense pressure surge that seeks relief throughout the system; including the piping, fixtures, water heater, etc. When left unchecked, disturbing noise and certain mechanical damage to the plumbing system will occur, including; premature failure of water heaters, faucets, seals, joints, and pipes.

Sizing Arresters

The volume of compressed gas available within the system at flow pressure is the main factor that determines shock absorbing capacity. Since the shock producing energy (kinetic energy) in any given piping system can be calculated, the volume of compressed gas needed to absorb the energy and bring the moving column of water to a more gradual stop can also be calculated . Although some arresters have different thread size connections, simply matching pipe size with arrester connection is not a recommended method for specifying arresters. A proper sizing method recognizes the volume of gas required to safely absorb the energy and all the factors that contribute to the total shock energy within a given system. The different sizes and types of connections are only intended for the convenience of the installer.

Controlling Water Hammer

The most effective means of controlling water hammer is a measured, compressible cushion of gas within the piping system. Engineered water hammer arresters employ a permanently sealed, specified quantity of gas to absorb water hammer. When water stops abruptly, the Rester’s cushion of air reacts instantaneously, thus absorbing pressure spikes that cause water hammer.
