Description

Mini Rester 1/2″ Residential Water Hammer Arrester (660-2J)

Mini Rester absorbs water hammer caused by quick-closing valves in residential washing machines, faucets, baths, showers and dishwashers.

It employs a two O-ring piston within a sealed copper tube chamber that cushions water hammer repeatedly without ever losing its initial air charge.

Convenient , quick and easy installation for a variety of residential plumbing applications. (at the washing machine, at the bath/shower valve, underneath lavs and sinks , on any supply line to any plumbing fixture.

Guaranteed to stop water hammer for the lifetime of the plumbing system.

Install into new rough-in piping or retrofit into residential plumbing systems.

  • Installed at any angle
  • No maintenance is required
  • Contains no lead – Suitable for drinking water installations
  • Max. Working Temperature: 121 °C
  • Max. Pressure Operation: 24 bar
  • Burst Pressure: 200 bar

Example of installation:  In washing machines install 2 MINI RESTERS1 in the cold water line and 1 in the hot water line.

The Water Hammer Arrester Mini Rester 1/2″  must be installed before the valve , in each and every fixture unit ( water closet, bathtub, washing machine, faucets, etc)

What is Water Hammer?

Water hammer occurs when water flowing through a pipeline is stopped abruptly, generating an intense pressure surge that seeks relief throughout the system; including the piping, fixtures, water heater, etc. When left unchecked, disturbing noise and certain mechanical damage to the plumbing system will occur, including; premature failure of water heaters, faucets, seals, joints, and pipes.

Sizing Arresters

The volume of compressed gas available within the system at flow pressure is the main factor that determines shock absorbing capacity. Since the shock producing energy (kinetic energy) in any given piping system can be calculated, the volume of compressed gas needed to absorb the energy and bring the moving column of water to a more gradual stop can also be calculated . Although some arresters have different thread size connections, simply matching pipe size with arrester connection is not a recommended method for specifying arresters. A proper sizing method recognizes the volume of gas required to safely absorb the energy and all the factors that contribute to the total shock energy within a given system. The different sizes and types of connections are only intended for the convenience of the installer.

Controlling Water Hammer

The most effective means of controlling water hammer is a measured, compressible cushion of gas within the piping system. Engineered water hammer arresters employ a permanently sealed, specified quantity of gas to absorb water hammer. When water stops abruptly, the Hydra-Rester’s cushion of air reacts instantaneously, thus absorbing pressure spikes that cause water hammer.
